You must recertify/renew every two years to ensure that your NASM Personal Trainer credentials stay up to date with current best-practice guidelines and skills. You will be required to earn 2.0 NASM-approved CEUs every two-year period. This includes 0.1 CEUs from the mandatory CPR/AED certification.

The Corrective Exercise (CES) and Stretching and Flexibility Coach (SFC) specializations do not require renewal. Once you pass your final exam, your certificates will never expire.

You will have 180 days from the date of enrollment to take either of the exam options for the NASM Certified Personal Trainer program, and 365 days to complete your NASM Corrective Exercise Specialization and NASM Stretching and Flexibility Coach exam. Most courses can be completed in as few as 8 weeks; the NASM Certified Personal Trainer course can be completed in as few as 4 weeks. An extension for the exams can be purchased by contacting NASM Member Services at 1-800-460-6276.
